Bank Unit May Be Sold: First Interstate said it is considering selling First Interstate Bancard, a Simi Valley subsidiary that services about $500 million in credit card accounts. The unit processes credit card slips and billings for First Interstate and its affiliates. The unit also has issued about 500,000 of its own credit cards, mostly outside California. The Los Angeles bank has been selling some of its units as part of a restructuring.
