Weintraub Entertainment Group said it made an interest payment of $5,265,000 on its 13% subordinated debentures. The firm had missed a July 30 due date but said the payment was made in full within the 30-day grace period permitted by the debt agreement. . . . The Investment Company Institute said assets of the nation’s 463 money market mutual funds rose $2.68 billion in the latest week to a record $343.22 billion. The previous record, set the week ended Aug. 16, totaled $340.54 billion, revised slightly upward from the $340.51 billion originally reported . . . Los Angeles-based L.A. Gear Inc. announced a 2-for-1 stock split of the company’s common stock, payable Sept. 25 to shareholders of record Sept. 5.
