L.A. to Claim Land for Pacoima Senior Center
- Share via
The Board of Recreation and Park Commissioners on Monday approved the beginning of eminent domain proceedings to acquire land for the future Pacoima Senior Center.
The two-acre parcel, northwest of Glenoaks and Van Nuys boulevards, has been valued at $675,000. It is near major bus routes and freeways. But the owners have not responded to many contacts by city parks staff, causing the city to initiate measures to claim the land through eminent domain.
The center will not be built for several years, but money for land acquisition was included in the 1988-89 budget.
