LONDON — Oliver Tambo, president of the African National Congress, suffered a brain spasm that has impaired movement on the right side of his body, an ANC spokesman said Wednesday.
“He is in good spirits, his condition is comfortable,” spokesman Nad Pillay said.
Tambo, 71, who has led the ANC’s guerrilla struggle against South African white minority rule for 20 years, was hospitalized in Britain more than two weeks ago. The ANC earlier had said he was suffering from exhaustion.
