* Mark Antrobius caught a touchdown pass and set up the winning TD with his second interception of the game to help Palos Verdes rally from a 21-point, fourth-quarter deficit and upset Santa Monica, 35-34. Antrobius leads the South Bay with seven interceptions.
* Mira Costa setter Piper Hahn was named Most Valuable Player of a volleyball tournament for the second time this season, leading the top-ranked Mustangs to the championship of the San Marcos Invitational in Santa Barbara.
* South Torrance quarterback Kevin Fitzpatrick passed for two touchdowns and ran for a third to spark the Spartans over Mira Costa, 26-21, as they remained tied for first place in the Ocean League.
* Defensive backs Niu Sale and Anthony Anetema had big efforts in El Camino College’s 38-14 win over Golden West. Sale had 14 tackles and Anetema had 10 tackles and an interception.
Who’s Not
* Morningside, once considered a favorite for the Ocean League football title, is still looking for its first win. The Monarchs (0-5) were beaten by previously winless Redondo, 21-3, and have scored a total of just 10 points in two league games.
* Although Rolling Hills boasts one of the South Bay’s top prep football teams, the Titans have been careless with the ball lately. They committed five turnovers in a 16-16 tie with Leuzinger, giving them 11 in their last two games.
* One week after an emotional win over Morningside, North Torrance resorted to its old ways in a 41-7 Ocean League loss to Culver City. The Saxons have been outscored this season, 141-28.
* Leuzinger failed to complete a pass in three attempts last week in a 16-16 tie against Rolling Hills.
