Silletti Seeks Injunction to Gain Eligibility

Bill Silletti, a senior at Montclair Prep, sought an injunction Wednesday in Van Nuys Superior Court to gain athletic eligibility in order to play on the school’s undefeated football team.
Silletti, a 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive lineman, is seeking a waiver of the California Interscholastic Federation rule that limits athletic eligibility for students to eight consecutive semesters of high school. Silletti, who repeated the 10th grade, entered his ninth semester of high school this fall. Although he has not played in a game, he has practiced with the team all season.
The Southern Section rejected Silletti’s request in September, and the CIF refused to hear an appeal, prompting Silletti to seek a court decision. A decision is expected in the next 60 days.
Montclair Prep is 7-0, 2-0 in the Alpha League. Cal-Hi Sports ranks the Mounties second in the state in Division 1-A.
