A British crewman in the Whitbread around-the-world yacht race died after being swept overboard in the South Atlantic.
Anthony Phillips, 36, was the first sailor killed at sea in the 33,000-mile race since 25 yachts from 14 countries set sail on Sept. 2 from Southampton, England.
Phillips was washed overboard with another crew member of the British yacht Creightons Naturally. Both men were recovered but Phillips was dead.
