A mother who gave a portion of her liver to her daughter in the nation’s first live-donor liver transplant left a Chicago hospital. The left lobe of the liver of Terri Smith, 29, of Schertz, Tex., was transplanted into her 21-month-old daughter, Alyssa, on Nov 27. Meanwhile, 15-month-old Sarina Jones, of Millington, Tenn., was to undergo the nation’s second live-donor liver transplant today.
