BUENA PARK — A 10-year-old boy was in critical condition Saturday night after he jumped out of a bush into a street and was struck by a passing car, police said.
Eric Edborg of Buena Park ran out from some planter bushes onto the Grand Avenue service road near Jackson Way about 4:50 p.m. and was hit by a Honda Prelude driven by Sandra Campbell of Buena Park, police said. Campbell, who was traveling within the speed limit, was released at the scene.
The boy was taken by helicopter to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was listed in critical condition with head injuries Saturday night.
Eric’s father, Daniel Edborg, retired from the Buena Park Police Department in March after nine years on the force, police said.
