Fewer United Education Schools: Encino-based United Education & Software Inc. said its wholly owned California subsidiary has sold, merged, or closed 10 of its schools, including seven in California. The trade school operator, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December and remains the target of several lawsuits, said proceeds from the transactions would be used to reduce debt. It said its remaining 14 schools would “form a foundation for the company’s future.”
