Seven alleged gang members were in custody Thursday on suspicion of gang-raping a 14-year-old girl in Carson in December, deputies said.
Armed with search and arrest warrants, deputies arrested two men and four boys at their homes at 7 a.m., Deputy Pat Hunter said. Another suspect already was in custody on another matter, one was being sought and a ninth suspect has not been identified.
Authorities said the girl was raped by nine suspects after attending a birthday party at a friend’s home. After the Dec. 19 party, the girl accepted a ride home from a friend’s acquaintances. “She was driven to the Dare-U-Inn in Carson, where she was gang-raped,” Hunter said.
The suspects arrested Thursday morning include Eric Callis, 21, and Dorell Thomas, 19, both of Compton. The four youths’ identities were not released because of their age. All six were booked at the Carson sheriff’s station on suspicion of rape, and the adults each were held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
