France’s 3 Airlines Face Weekend Strike

PARIS — Pilots and flight technicians on France’s three main airlines are threatening to strike for 48 hours beginning midnight Saturday, a union spokesman said Thursday.
The Union of Flight Technicians, grouping technicians and pilots from Air France, Air Inter and Union des Transports Aeriens (UTA), is pressing for increased staff levels and better training and conditions, spokesman Serge Mocquet said.
He said the strike would affect all Air France planes taking off from Paris’ two main airports, Charles de Gaulle and Orly, and is not aimed at disrupting stopovers or arrivals.
“But the action will inevitably have repercussions on all flights,” he added.
