Warner Bros. Embargoes Pirates: The Caped Crusader is battling video pirates on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. Pirated copies of the film “Batman” and other blockbusters are big business in Cyprus, where local television is limited in scope. Now U.S. film giant Warner Bros. has stepped in with a court injunction preventing one of the island’s biggest video stores from renting out pirated copies of Batman. The film company and its local distributor are claiming up to $52,500 for damages and copyright infringement.
