The Buffalo Sabres put left winger Alexander Mogilny, the first Soviet hockey player to defect to the United States, on indefinite medical leave of absence.
Mogilny will receive professional therapy and counseling to help him deal with his fear of flying “as well as other problems that may have come up during his during his transition to his new culture,” a statement from the team said.
