East Germany Makes First Significant Cocaine Haul

EAST BERLIN — East Germany has made its first significant haul of cocaine and fears it could be swamped by narcotics as German unity nears, the Berliner Allgemeine newspaper said Friday.
Deputy Health Minister Bodo Schoenheit said police recently seized nine pounds of cocaine at East Berlin’s Schoenefeld airport.
