Mini-Mall Opponent

In a recent Valley edition, Steve Harvey wrote in his “Only in L.A.” column that developer Ira Smedra is building a “much- needed mini mall” in place of Pat Galati’s carwash.
I certainly disagree with Harvey’s opinion that a mini-mall at that location is “much needed.” Obviously Harvey must be a Studio City resident in order to feel the need for one, and of course he is entitled to his opinion.
But why isn’t his opinion expressed in the opinion section of The Times? And why does the journalism as represented by the L.A. Times seem more and more amateurish almost daily?
