A sailor was killed and at least 12 were injured when heavy seas caused chaos during one of Britain’s biggest yacht races.
Three yachts sank and several capsized in heavy swells in the English Channel off the Isle of Wight after 1,500 boats set off on the 52-mile ‘Round the Island Race. Rescue officials said an unidentified sailor died when he was hit by a boom. Two sailors suffered broken arms when their yachts collided and another had a heart attack, officials said.
