The United States remained unbeaten in the Women’s World Basketball Championships by defeating Bulgaria, 93-72. Jennifer Azzi scored 13 points and Teresa Edwards and Katrina McClain had 12 each.
The U.S. team joined Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and Cuba in the semifinals. The Yugoslavs remained unbeaten by eliminating the six-time champion Soviet Union, 64-63.
The Americans will play Czechoslovakia, and Yugoslavia will meet Cuba Saturday, with the winners meeting Sunday for the title.
