A Fall Sneak: NBC is planning to announce “preview” times for new fall shows today, about a month before the start of the fall season. Brandon Tartikoff, NBC Entertainment Group chairman, and Warren Littlefield, NBC Entertainment president, said the new programming technique, called “double pumping,” is expected to generate interest in the shows. Pilots will be shown this month, then will be repeated during the fall premiere week. Among the shows to be previewed during the week of Aug. 20 will be “Life-stories,” a medical drama; “Parenthood,” starring Ed Begley Jr., based on the hit film of last year; “Hull High,” a musical drama set in a high school; “Working It Out,” a situation comedy with Jane Curtin and Stephen Collins; “Ferris Bueller,” another movie-based series, and “The Guys Next Door,” a new sitcom.
