SAN FRANCISCO — A movie helicopter crashed near the Golden Gate Bridge, but the pilot and two film crew members escaped from the sinking craft, the Coast Guard said today.
One aboard was injured in the crash.
The 420-horsepower, single-engine Jet Bell helicopter went down during the filming Monday night of an unnamed, 30-minute, “major motion picture for children,” a spokesman for Flightline film production company said.
The pilot, Will Prater, and two members of a crew from the Marin County filming company, escaped the copter and held onto the sides of a small sailboat, the Rendezvous, until being rescued by the Coast Guard.
