PORTLAND, Ore. — A jury awarded $1 million in damages to a man whose wife had an affair with a Presbyterian minister who was giving the couple marital counseling.
Jurors deliberated about five hours before deciding Monday that Greg Herbst, 42, was damaged by Henry Littlehales, former pastor of Kenilworth Presbyterian Church. The award included $250,000 in general damages and $750,000 in punitive damages.
Herbst, now divorced from his wife, Dorothy, claimed he was devastated by his wife’s affair and lost his faith in institutions, women and himself.
