Pope, Walesa to Meet

VATICAN CITY — Solidarity leader Lech Walesa, bidding to become Poland’s next president, will meet with Polish-born Pope John Paul II on Aug. 26 in a private audience at the papal summer residence south of Rome, the Vatican said Thursday.
