A young boy sitting on his bicycle was shot and killed in an unexplained attack, and a 12-year-old girl described by police as a “gang wanna-be” was critically wounded in another shooting, authorities said today.
The boy, Emiliano Landa, was hit once in the upper torso by shots fired at him and several of his friends Monday night in Norwalk. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Pioneer Hospital in Artesia, sheriff’s deputies said.
The girl, whom police declined to identify, was shot in the head and chest by two gang members on foot who opened fire on her and two boys about 4 p.m. Monday as they stood near the corner of Vermont Avenue and Olympic Boulevard, police said.
The girl was in critical condition and on life-support systems at Childrens Hospital.
