Back in Town: Gerald Arpino, artistic director of the Joffrey Ballet, returns to Los Angeles today for the first time since his monthlong battle for control of the company last May. His visit includes meetings with Music Center officials, Joffrey support groups and the press, and is intended to build local support. The company’s upcoming Los Angeles schedule includes performances of “The Nutcracker” at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion from Dec. 19-30 and a repertory season running May 7-June 2, 1991.
