South Gate : Recall Organizers Miss Deadline, Decide to Give Up
- Share via
After failing to meet a procedural deadline, proponents have decided to drop recall efforts against three South Gate councilmen.
Roger Cuevas, one of the recall leaders, said the group decided not to continue after the city clerk last week rejected their intent to circulate recall petitions.
City Clerk Janet Stubbs took the action after the group failed to file the intent to recall notice in a local newspaper within a required 10-day period, Cuevas said.
Mayor Robert A. Phillip, Vice Mayor Gregory Slaughter and Councilman Larry Leonard were the targets of the recall.
