Man Pleads Not Guilty in Strangling

A 22-year-old Van Nuys man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to a murder charge in the Oct. 4 strangulation of a Thousand Oaks woman he reportedly confessed that he killed.
Timothy Velasco was ordered held on $250,000 bail for a Nov. 8 preliminary hearing after entering the plea in Ventura County Municipal Court. Police have said Velasco confessed to killing Ellen Cleary, 37, whose nude body was found in her bathtub in a small amount of water Oct. 4.
