Home Offices Blossom: Mitsubishi Electronics America Inc. in Cypress reports that 21 million U.S. households contain offices, and that nearly half of those are used to run businesses. In addition, 38% are used to supplement regular business offices.
According to a national survey by Mitsubishi Electronics, answering machines are found in 60% of the nation’s home offices, and personal computers have replaced the typewriter in nearly half.
The survey was conducted for Mitsubishi by Manning, Selvage & Lee, a public relations firm in Los Angeles, and Impulse Research, a Los Angeles research firm. Questionnaires were mailed to 15,000 households as part of a nationwide survey of people with offices in their homes.
