Pickens to Look at Japanese Firms in U.S.: Bringing his fight to win a place on the board of Japan’s Koito Manufacturing Co. to America’s heartland, investor T. Boone Pickens Jr. announced that he is forming a group to study the activities of Japanese auto companies in the U.S. Pickens described the Mid-America Project as a coalition of labor union and business leaders from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and Tennessee that intends “to identify and evaluate” the influence of foreign investment in the region. Toyota Motor Corp. and Honda Motor Co. operate major facilities in the region.
