Amy Baumann, principal of California School in La Puente, has won the Margaret Lynch Exemplary Service Award, which honors educators for outstanding contributions in the field of teaching reading.
Baumann was one of 11 educators statewide to receive the award at the California Reading Assn.’s annual conference, which was held Nov. 8-10 in Anaheim.
Baumann’s accomplishments include establishing a silent reading time for all classes in her elementary school.
“If you walk into her school at a certain time of day, you will see everybody reading, including her and her staff. She is marvelous role model,” said Michelle Davenport, a La Puente teacher who belongs to the East San Gabriel Valley Reading Council.
