Franklin Telecom Corp. Reports $27,000 in Profit

Franklin Telecom Corp., a Westlake Village supplier of data communications equipment, said its fiscal first-quarter profit edged up to $27,000 from $25,000 a year earlier.

The small gain in earnings came despite an 8% decline in Franklin’s revenue, to $1.55 million from $1.69 million. At the same time, Franklin’s spending on research and development jumped 68%, to $357,000 from $212,000 a year earlier.
