WINGLOCK: The crash in Detroit (A1) renews concern about airliner safety on the ground, where John Wayne Airport has a pretty good record. . . . From 1983-1988, there were 62 accidents on runways, taxiways and aircraft aprons here, ranging from a cargo door falling off a plane to a Cessna colliding with two parked aircraft. One passenger died after walking into a propeller. After 1988, incidents declined, although traffic was up.
