PREP ROUNDUP : Brea-Olinda Rallies for 95-92 Overtime Victory

Pacifica High School held a 10-point lead midway through the fourth quarter, but Brea-Olinda rallied for a 95-92 victory in overtime in the first round of the Laguna Beach boys’ basketball Tournament.
Brea (1-1) was led by Jeff Roeser, who had a team-high 27 points, including three consecutive three-point baskets in the fourth quarter.
He also made four free throws in overtime to account for four of Brea’s seven points.
Kevin Gaughen scored 30 points for Pacifica (0-1).
In another Laguna Beach Tournament game:
Torrance 81, Santa Margarita 71--Torrance led by one after the first quarter but outscored Santa Margarita, 30-20, in the second quarter. Mike Carpenter finished with 22 for Santa Margarita (0-1).
In the Daily Pilot Tip-Off Tournament:
Irvine 60, Huntington Beach 54--John Molle scored 14 of his game-high 34 in the fourth quarter to lead Irvine’s comeback in one championship semifinal. Huntington Beach led, 42-38, after three quarters.
Irvine plays in the final Wednesday at 8 p.m. against the winner of tonight’s game between Newport Harbor and San Dieguito.
Saddleback 69, La Quinta 62--Jason Register scored 32 points for Saddleback (1-1) in the consolation-round game.
In the Valencia Tournament:
El Modena 67, Katella 63--Katella pulled within one point at 62-61 with about a minute left, but El Modena’s Bob Baytosh made a three-pointer to give the Vanguards a 65-63 lead.
Aaron Aguilera led El Modena (1-1) with 19 points, Gavin Brown had 13 and Baytosh 12. Kevin Carlson had 26 points for Katella (0-2).
Valencia 76, Sonora 61--Brian Manning scored 21 points and Justin Jimenez 15 for Valencia (1-0).
