LOCAL : Couple Dead in Murder-Suicide

An elderly couple suffering from health problems was found shot to death in the bedroom of their home in Long Beach in what detectives said today was a murder-suicide.
Neighbors called deputies shortly before 7:30 p.m. Monday and reported that they hadn’t seen the 72-year-old man and his 75-year-old wife at their home in the 7200 block of Premium Street in North Long Beach since Saturday, Sheriff’s Lt. Derry Benedict said.
The neighbors were concerned because the man had respiratory problems requiring oxygen in the house and the woman suffered from Parkinson’s disease, he said.
Detectives believe that the husband shot the woman to death as she slept in her bed. The man then shot himself, Benedict said.
