SAN FRANCISCO — The 130-year-old, all-male Olympic Club today tentatively settled a 1987 discrimination suit with the city by agreeing to admit women and adopting a policy of non-discrimination against minorities and women.
In exchange, the city agreed to drop its lawsuit against the club and give it an option to buy 17 acres of city land, part of which contains three holes of the club’s championship golf course.
The Olympic Club, with 6,000 members, agreed to admit women within 60 days, adopt the non-discrimination policy and keep in place an existing court injunction against discrimination.
