An 8-year-old boy who was struck by a car after running into traffic Friday is listed in critical condition, a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.
The boy was with a group of children on the south side of the 2200 block of South Santa Fe Avenue in Vista. Some of the children ran across the road successfully, but the boy tried to dart across the road moments later and was struck by a westbound vehicle traveling about 35 m.p.h. The boy, who sustained head injuries and a fractured pelvis, was taken to Children’s Hospital.
No charges are pending against the driver.
