Dash For Speed Comes Back, Wins Champion of Champions

Dash For Speed, atoning for two disappointing efforts during the current meet, scored a half-length victory over Tee Roy Reb in the $250,000 Champion of Champions quarter horse race Saturday night at Los Alamitos.
Dash For Speed, a 5-year-old mare, covered the 440 yards in 21.32 seconds and paid $17.40, $9.20 and $5.80. Tee Roy Reb returned $6.20 and $4.20, and Apprehend paid $6.60 for finishing third in the field of 10.
Dash For Speed, a two-time divisional champion, scored her 22nd victory in 30 starts and raised her earnings to $1,220,536 with the $125,000 first-place prize. She is a daughter of Dash For Cash, who won this race in 1976 and 1977.
It was the third victory in five starts this year for Dash For Speed.
