Motorola to Build New Chips With Toshiba: Motorola Inc. will produce its next generation of computer memory chips in Japan under a joint venture with Japanese electronics manufacturer Toshiba, a spokesman said. The 4-megabit dynamic random access memory chips will be made at a factory in Sendai, Japan, that is co-owned by Motorola and Toshiba, rather than at Motorola’s new chip plant in Austin, Tex.
