SHORT TAKES : Israel to Honor Menuhin, Berio

JERUSALEM — Violinist Yehudi Menuhin and composer-conductor Luciano Berio were named today as winners of Wolf Prizes in the arts for 1991.
The awards, which carry $100,000 grants, are to be presented in May at the Israeli Knesset, or Parliament. Prizes will also be awarded for chemistry, medicine, physics, agriculture and mathematics.
The selection committee said the musicians were chosen “for bringing peoples together through their musical achievements.”
