Federal Grand Jury in San Diego Indicts Six on Drug Charges

Six people were indicted on drug charges by a federal grand jury in San Diego, the U.S. attorney’s office said Tuesday.

The indictment unsealed Monday accused three of the defendants of providing laboratory supplies and chemical ingredients to their co-defendants, who allegedly used them to produce batches of methamphetamine.

One of the defendants, Thomas M. Schultz, was the general manager of Chem Labs, a Placentia business that allegedly suppled chemicals and equipment to the ring and introduced methamphetamine “cookers” to people who could supply them with vital precursor chemicals, Assistant U.S. Atty. Amalia Meza said.

Schultz, 32, is being held on separate charges in Yankton, S.D., Meza said.

Also charged with supplying chemicals were Robert Grimsley, 33, of Ontario and George Khoury, 32, of Riverside.

Meza said Grimsley was arraigned in San Diego Monday afternoon on a charge of conspiracy to manufacture and possess methamphetamine and was lodged at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on $150,000 bail.

Khoury was a fugitive along with the other defendants; Jerry Barrow, 59, of Sun City and Robert Templeton, 55, and his wife, Judy, of Lihue, Hawaii.

The defendants all are charged with conspiracy.
