TUSTIN : Anti-Graffiti Project Will Get Consultant

The city will hire a consultant to organize its graffiti removal program, the City Council decided this week.
A survey of graffiti-removal programs in 28 cities found that using a private contractor is the most popular and effective way to remove graffiti. Costs range from $40 to $50 to remove 150 square feet of graffiti, said Rita Westfield, Tustin’s assistant director of community development.
The city has $20,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds that have been set aside for the graffiti removal program. Funds might also come from the redevelopment department and other sources.
“I think this really shows we’re serious about implementing the southwest stabilization program” to improve conditions in the city’s southwest area, said Councilman Charles E. Puckett.
