The City Council has selected George Scott to serve as mayor for the next year. It will be Scott’s fourth term as mayor.
Scott said his priority for the coming year will be to set up a committee for owners of small and large businesses. “Helping them become more successful in their own businesses means helping the city become more successful,” said Scott, who owns an insurance brokerage.
Councilman James Petrikin, a chiropractor, was elected mayor pro tem.
Councilwoman Laurann Cook, who was reelected last month, was sworn in this week, as were council newcomers Guy Carozzo, a former high school principal, and businessman John J. Collins.
