TORONTO — Left winger Wendel Clark will be sidelined for at least a week and newly acquired right wing Mike Foligno will be on the shelf for at least two, the Toronto Maple Leafs announced.
They were injured during a 2-2 tie Tuesday night against the New York Islanders in Uniondale, N.Y., and flew home while their teammates prepared for a game Wednesday night in New York against the Rangers.
A hospital examination Wednesday showed Clark sustained a slight separation of his left shoulder when he was run into the boards by the Islanders’ Richard Pilon.
Foligno, acquired Monday from the Buffalo Sabres for forward Lou Franceschetti and defenseman Brian Curran, strained his left knee when he crashed into the boards.
