MTM May Be Put Up for Sale Again: Television South PLC, the British company that owns MTM Entertainment, may put the Studio City-based independent TV production company on the block again, a London newspaper reported. The Sunday Times wrote that new management at TV South, installed in a sudden shake-up last week, “may soon sell” MTM. Earlier this year, TV South had sought to sell a 50% stake in MTM, which it bought in 1988 for $320 million. It withdrew the offer after it was unable to find a buyer willing to meet its price. The famed “boutique” TV studio, which once included a roster of some of the best and most innovative writers in television, has lately fallen on hard times. It has not had a hit since the early to mid-1980s. The studio’s misfortunes were blamed in part for the management shake-up at TVS. MTM and TVS officials could not be reached for comment.
