Woman Killed After Car Slams Into Pole

A 53-year-old North Hollywood woman died Monday night after she ran a red light in Van Nuys, clipped another motorist and then struck a utility pole, police said.
The woman, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was driving south on Sepulveda Boulevard near Victory Boulevard when the accident occurred about 3:30 p.m., said Los Angeles Police Sgt. William Bowen. There were no other injuries.
Witnesses told police that the woman was traveling about 50 m.p.h in a 35 m.p.h. zone. She was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where she died, Bowen said.
An investigation is continuing, he said.
