Unocal Natural Gas Find: The Los Angeles-based energy firm said it has discovered natural gas in a wildcat well in north-central Michigan in Kalkaska County. Unocal said it had calculated an open flow rate of 91 million cubic feet a day from the well. Unocal said production will begin when facilities have been installed and well-head connection permits have been issued by the Michigan Public Service Commission. Unocal operates the well and holds a 39.3% interest; Shell Western Exploration and Production, Inc., a unit of Shell Oil Co., holds the remainder.
