2 Carrier Battle Groups Set Sail for Persian Gulf

WASHINGTON — The aircraft carriers Theodore Roosevelt and America and their battle groups left the United States on Friday for the Persian Gulf, the Navy said. They are due to arrive in the gulf just before the Jan. 15 deadline set by the United Nations.
