I resolve for the New Year to provide more encouragement and support for our potential volunteers in the neighborhood. It’s like that old saying, “You can give somebody food or you can teach them to fish.” Unless we build up the leadership in the neighborhood and help them build up their skills, we’re not really helping. I don’t have to do all the planning and outreach, I can step back and give it to someone in the neighborhood who will do it just as well.
