Center Mario Lemieux of the Pittsburgh Penguins has begun light skating and might be slightly ahead of schedule in his recovery from back surgery, according to General Manager Craig Patrick of the Penguins. Patrick described Lemieux’s work as “light skating but hard enough to work up a pretty good sweat.” Lemieux hadn’t been on skates since training camp in September.
