Frank Fredericks signed to challenge Ben Johnson in the 50-meter dash at the Sunkist Invitational indoor track and field meet Jan. 18 at the Sports Arena. Johnson is returning to track after a two-year ban for testing positive for steroids during the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Johnson’s world-record 9.79-second victory and gold medal were disallowed.
