Anton had four excellent games as the Lady Cats, the top-ranked team in Orange County, won the Costa Mesa tournament. She scored 50 points in the tournament, including 16 in a quarterfinal against Schurr and 20 in Brea-Olinda’s 83-53 pummeling of Tustin, then ranked second, in the championship game. Anton, who is 5-feet-11 and was an all-Southern Section Division III selection last season, was voted co-most valuable player of the tournament with teammate Jinelle Williams. The two have helped Brea-Olinda to a 12-0 start this season. The Lady Cats have not lost to an Orange County team since 1987.
Other top performers:
* Melody Earle, who averaged 22 points and helped Estancia reach the finals of the Marina tournament. Earle, a senior guard had a game-high 23 points in the championship game Saturday against Lakewood, but Estancia suffered its first loss in 13 games this season, 58-47.
* Shawn Viloria, whose goal with eight minutes remaining in overtime gave El Toro a 3-2 victory over Mater Dei for the championship of the Ocean View soccer tournament. Viloria, a senior halfback, had seven goals in the tournament, and has scored 23 this season.
* Jinelle Williams, who along with Anton provided much of the scoring punch for Brea-Olinda in the Costa Mesa tournament. Williams, a 5-9 senior center, scored 69 points in four games, including 23 in an 82-17 victory over Santa Margarita in the first round.
